We got a Wii.
Well, the family connections paid off this week, and we were able to obtain a Wii. A good use of my christmas money, even though I didn't quite make it last the whole year this year.

I like the fact that when we play, everybody kinda gets involved, at least, that's the case with the couple of games that came with it, Wii Play and

Wii Sports. I know there are other "hard core gamer" type games that are available for it, but I'm not sure those would go over well with Caleb and/or Melissa, so I may wait to try'em out/rent'em etc.

The only thing I wish is that it were slightly more hackable, i.e. if Nintendo would open up the platform a bit more. I'd _love_ to hack up some WiiWare, but I don't think they'll make that available ever, which is kinda sad. Think of the cool things that would flourish if they did!

We just got one too. Wii Sports & DDR are our only two games so far.

Wii play came with the extra wiimote, and it's got a couple of games on it that the non-gamer folks like, which is good. We've never been DDR players, mostly because we've never really tried. How's the Wii port?

Yeah, we'll be picking up Wii Play pretty soon I think.

The Wii DDR port is pretty much the same as the other DDRs, though it does incorporate use of the wiimote and nunchuck for a little upper-body movement as well. The dance pad is the same as the GameCube DDR pad, so I suspect additional pads could be found for fairly cheap.

I should state for the record that I probably wouldn't buy WiiPlay without the wiimote combined for $50. But, my brother-in-law has become addicted to one of the mini-games and purchased it for like $15 used from amazon, because they've already got two wiimotes.

When I had the pleasure of talking to your wife and child at the park yesterday, Caleb asked me if I would like to come home with them and "Watch the Wii". It was cute. He also wanted to know if I was a baseball player, which was mostly just a little odd. Hope to see you guys on Saturday!

You guys should totally come "watch the wii" but, unfortunately, I committed us to go to an elders quorum BBQ (I said I'd help clean up) on sunday and forgot to tell Melissa, so we'll have to have a rain check on dinner?
